Professor Snieckus had a profound effect on so many individuals, and the world of synthetic organic chemistry as a whole.  The Snieckus Group was composed of students and postdocs from all corners of the globe, and Vic’s considerable contacts in industry made him a household name in the chemical and medicinal chemistry industries.  With such deep love and admiration, former graduate student Arshad Siddiqui had the idea to honour his (our) former advisor and mentor with a memorial fellowship, to further the work of organic chemistry by funding synthetic organic post-doctoral fellowships for Canadian students. The Victor Snieckus Foundation was created by Vic’s family and several former Snieckus Group students and post-docs to administer the application process and, along with external referees, select the future Foundation Fellows.
